Support the fight against coronavirus

30 March 2020

PPE is desperately needed by those on the frontline and if every construction firm made a small donation, then it would make a huge contribution to the effort.

Whether you use the ContractorsAppeal.com, respond to the Government appeal or contact your local groups – please act now.

How are CLOCS Champions helping

CLOCS Champion demolition contractor, Cantillon, and Pharmaceutical wholesaler De Group have launched an industry-wide campaign asking for firms to donate spare PPE to the NHS.

The companies are calling for the industry to contribute masks, overalls, gloves and glasses to support health workers. They have launched the contractorsAppeal.com to organise and distribute donations. Logistically, it is a huge task to get PPE to all the places it is desperately needed, and the companies think they can help areas beyond the hospitals, the GP practices, care homes, and hospices.

Interested firms can donate PPE equipment here. A JustGiving page has also been set up.

Last week we forwarded an appeal to industry from the UK Government.

It was great to hear from the following CLOCS Champions about how they are supporting the fight against the Corona Virus.  Do keep in touch on in Linked-in so that we can all support each other too:

  • Whites Transport
  • Les Smith Haulage
  • Taylor Wimpey
  • Carey London ltd
  • Costain
  • Travis Perkins

Please use this link if your business can offer support in any of the following circumstances:

  • Protective equipment for healthcare workers, such as masks, gowns, and sanitiser;
  • Hotel rooms;
  • Transport and logistics, for moving goods or people;
  • Manufacturing equipment;
  • Warehouse or office space, for medical use or storage;
  • Expert advice or consultancy on IT, manufacturing, construction, project management, procurement, or engineering;
  • Social care or childcare;
  • Community support.

Build UK has also put out a call to its members to see if they can donate “medical-grade (or equivalent) PPE, masks, gloves, gowns and goggles” to the NHS. Those able to get involved can email communications@builduk.org.
