Continental Tyres UK will host a road safety workshop at the CLOCS Annual Conference, as part of its role as the main sponsor for the 2019 event.
The workshop seeks to educate fleet operators and drivers about how the transport industry is “making the digital leap” with the session exploring how transport technologies and information systems are set to improve both logistics performance and road safety. This perfectly aligns with Continental’s Vision Zero initiative, which aims to eliminate all fatalities on road networks.
As a world-leading tyre and digital solutions provider, Continental already offers a broad, innovative portfolio of digital capabilities and technologies to the commercial vehicle industry that helps to enhance efficiency, safety and comfort. In the future, connected and self-driving trucks in particular are set to radicalise the haulage industry. Smart, digital tachographs are multipurpose, trustworthy data sources for telematics processes, while turning assistant systems will soon be smart enough to interpret complex, unpredictable traffic situations and initiate emergency braking if required.
In addition, Continental’s dynamic eHorizon system will help commercial vehicle drivers to save fuel by accessing real-time data from other vehicles further up the road. A partnership between Continental and leading German braking system supplier, Knorr-Bremse, is also developing technology to help trucks avoid traffic jams and travel in automated convoys, thereby reducing fuel consumption. Such technology could cut the cost per kilometre by as much as 40 per cent.
Join our ‘Continental –Making the digital leap’ workshop at the CLOCS Annual Conference on 20th March to find out more about truck innovations to support your business.
