How HGVs could reduce CO2 emissions

3 September 2018

A TfL commissioned report comparing the use of rigid vehicles versus articulated HGVs has been produced recently and found that articulated HGVs carrying bulk construction materials in London can reduce CO2 emissions by 32% and the number of such lorries on London’s roads by up to 37%.

Because articulated HGVs are able to carry greater loads, the construction industry can benefit from reduced costs while road users and the wider public will experience reduced congestion, improved safety and reduced emissions. The development of the report has been supported by the Construction Logistics Improvement Group (CLIG) who endorsed the original decision to fund it. The full report can be found here.
