Kate Cairns BEng (Hons) MSc DIC CEng CEnv FICE is a multi-award-winning, pioneering leader in construction logistics risk management. She is a renowned CLOCS Expert, delivers all the CLOCS Training and served on the CLOCS Strategy Standards & Governance Board.
Kate works across the supply chain with local authorities, planners, procurers, designers, clients and contractors to help them save time, money, reputation and lives. She helps clients identify and understand their risks, and then implement and embed best practice – in safety, sustainability & inclusivity, whilst demonstrating the synergy between all three.
Kate was a powerful voice calling for an industry standard to manage construction logistics back in 2009, after her little sister Eilidh Cairns was run down from behind and crushed by a fully laden tipper: Kate was instrumental in the instigation of CLOCS and has led changes to legislation, policy, and standards at European, national and local level. She had already initiated another world-first standard in sustainability (CEEQUAL – Improving Sustainability in Civil Engineering). She led the technical evolution and embedded delivery of both standards, winning national awards in the process.
Her rare combination of academic excellence, technical rigour and lived experience results in a powerful communicator with a demonstrable track record in delivering change. Clients book her for training, bespoke workshops, peer review and as a keynote speaker. Glowing testimonials depict a formidable professional with personal poignancy who leaves a lasting impact.

Lens-Tech Co Ltd are the long term contract supplier of Fresnel lenses to National Highways (Highways England), FORS, the MOD, Transport Scotland & many of the major truck fleets throughout the UK as well as the key supplier to Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) and Kenworth Trucks (USA) for fitting our Fresnel lenses to the ‘Peeper’ windows in their lower passenger doors.
Now that DVS ‘Peeper’ windows are being fitted to UK trucks we are promoting a new lens application for our existing Hi Vue Fresnel lens so that it can also be used as an ‘after-market’ product addition to UK DVS door windows which remarkably enables a truck driver to see ‘around/through’ the hazardous front windscreen window pillar and mirror array on the nearside.
