Greater Manchester is forging ahead in driving CLOCS adoption and implementation across the city-region. Just as London has driven positive change across the region, public sector bodies across Greater Manchester are coming together to agree how they can create consistent demand for CLOCS compliance. Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan are all to consider how best to adopt CLOCS to ensure the safest construction vehicle journeys.
Other UK cities are also in discussion with CLOCS as they recognise all regions have similar proportions of fatal/serious injury collisions involving HGVs and pedestrians/cyclists/motorcyclists – as shown in the summary table in the national CLOCS Standard.
CLOCS is even being adopted in Australia! Discussions over the last couple of years with teams from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have resulted in funding to establish CLOCS Australia. A small delegation attended the CLOCS annual conference to meet key CLOCS Champions and understand first-hand the challenges and advantages CLOCS brings to all.
